Captive Resources has been recognized again as one of the Chicago area’s Top Workplaces by the Chicago Tribune, appearing on the list for the seventh straight year. The company captured the No. 2 position in the midsize company category in 2023.
Captive Resources joined the midsize category (250 to 999 employees) in 2021 after climbing the ranks of the small company tier for the previous four years. We’ve placed first or second each year since joining the midsize category.
This consistent recognition reflects Captive Resources’ ability to successfully prioritize colleague satisfaction in a changing business environment. The company has maintained its intrinsic colleague-centric approach to growth while expanding its workforce and managing the transition to remote work amid COVID-19 pandemic workplace restrictions and back to a hybrid work schedule.

The companies named to the Top Workplaces in Chicago list were determined through employee surveys conducted by consultancy firm Energage, which partners with media outlets such as the Tribune in 60 U.S. markets for its annual Regional Top Workplaces awards. The surveys measured qualities such as company leadership, communication, working environment, pay, and benefits.
Captive Resources enables mid-market companies to become insurance company owners rather than insurance buyers and lower their total cost of risk. We do this through the creation, development, and oversight of member-owned group captive insurance companies. We currently support 45 group captives with 6,250 member-companies and more than $4 billion in annual premiums. We support every aspect of the captives we advise, from claims advocacy to operational oversight, risk management, financial services, regulatory compliance, investment services, and more.
